Welcome to Jabber's Profile.......

or should I say blow my trumpet.
I was born on December 21st 1959 in Manchester. Some would say
getting on a bit if they are younger than me.
I live in a small town called Oldham in Greater Manchester,
England and I must admit that it is freezing during winter
period and the clouds tend to empty over
Oldham
to get over the hills to Yorkshire. I’m a BMW driver but, not
quite as arrogant as most BMW drivers, I will give way to at
least one car. I have two daughters and whoever says it stops
costing money when they are working is a liar.
Previously I lived in
Belfast
which I enjoyed very much and would like to return eventually to
finish the rest of my days, but I visit as frequently as
possible.
Occupation:
IT/AV Technical support officer for a busy NHS Medical education
Centre for medical staff. My job mainly comprises of digital
imaging for presentation material for teaching purposes and
audiovisual support, I also support the doctors with IT related
issues. And yes they are hard to work with, it can be very
interesting at times so they tell me.
Qualifications:
(Not many)
H.N.C Business Information Technology
ECDL
ITQ
Personal Interests: (Anorak)
I like walking and visiting historic places, houses and gardens
in UK and Europe. I also enjoy gardening very much.
I really enjoy all aspects of photography and love getting out
and about taking pictures when I have the time within my local
area.
Recently I have become interested in creating websites, hence
this site was created just to see if I could do it.
I also run one of the MSN groups in the photography category
that just happens to be one of the most popular ones (Digital
Photography Club). I have been manager for a few years now and
I still enjoy it as much as I did at the beginning.
Photography & Imaging:
I became interested in imaging about 15 years ago and as time
progressed the photography side of things has grown. I have
been using digital cameras for about 9 years and at present I
use a Canon Digital Ixus V (my pocket digi), Nikon 5700, Nikon
5000 and Nikon D50. I’d love to be a paparazzi
photographer but I’m not bold enough to walk up to anyone and
just take their picture. I have also always wanted to create a
poster that fits down the side of a building or on billboards
purely out of curiosity to see what it looked like. I’ve been
using Adobe Photoshop for around 10 years + and would say my
skill level is between intermediate/advanced. I really like the
potential of being able to enhance my photography and make my
pictures worthy of hanging on walls.
Some of the gear I use is getting a little dated now, but I find
with the digital camera revolution that I don’t use the older
gear as much these days, in fact very rarely:
Epson 4990 flatbed scanner with a built in transparency adapter
mainly used for scanning old photographs, I also have Polaroid sprintscan film scanner for scanning negatives and film and
finally a Polaroid CI3000 Digital Pallet film printer.
I can use most image manipulation software, but the one I use
the most is Photoshop CS along side a Wacom graphics tablet.
I use Epson printers for printing though they are getting a
little dated now:
